Great news for fans of Ducky Dynasty. Following a firestorm of emotional protests the network will be bringing back Phil Robertson and has ended their suspension of the Duck Commander patriarch.
According to Country Weekly:
A&E initially reacted strongly to Phil’s controversial statements in GQ about homosexuals and black people in the south because their values “are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect,” said a statement from A&E and printed in The Hollywood Reporter. The network also publicly condemned Phil’s statements as they suspended him.
The family released a statement last week regretting Phil’s coarse language, but stood firm on their convictions. They also declared they would never incite or encourage hate, and weren’t sure how the show could continue without Phil.
“But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views,” continued A&E’s statement. “It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A&E Networks also feel strongly about.”
